Rewatching this I am not convinced of the anti-archive argument. Obviously the logic of surveillance is one of dispersed state repression. What does it mean to create an archive, one that tries to evade such a logic? There is a need to learn from history, for the stories of struggles, of community care, to be passed down to current and future generations. Does the goal of the archive—like a borgesian library—necessarily function via the logic of surveillance? Perhaps the anarchists can’t create archives without undoing such principles? Another reason I’m not an anarchist I guess?
