Movie 28 of my 2025 Halloween Movie Marathon
I would like to first point out something incredibly important... the outro song for each of the episodes is a BOP. I was dancing and adding adlibs to the hypnotic Japanese lyrics like I was in prime 2016 Soundcloud or something. Really, really enjoyed that.
On to the actual show through, I thought it was just ok. I actually watched the OG Ju-On during the last Halloween Movie Marathon I did, and while I found that movie somewhat enjoyable, it succumbs to the same faults as this mini-series, it being just kinda forgettable. The forgetableness here in Ju-On origins is caused by the unorthodox structure of the story, specifically, how there are multiple viewpoints in the story. Through out the series, I continued to question whether or not multiple perspectives were necessary for this kind of story, and ultimately, I found it UNnecessary.
I was quite surprised by how messed up this show got at times through. Ju-On Origins being on Netflix, I was expecting something more sanitized, but I was wrong. At the very least, that made this movie more entertaining (that and that one black and white scene in episode 4, the one with the woman in all black, with only her eyes showing, that was pretty cool.)
