Classic Safdie Brothers anxiety fuel and Nathan Fielder social uncomfortability tension mixed into the perfect chaotic atmosphere. So many moments in this show gave me genuine physical anxiety, almost making me feel a little nauseous. A big part of that for me was the ambient, synth-heavy soundtrack that would play during intense or bizarre moments, which I feel is very overlooked.
The performances here are Emmy worthy everyone put their all into their character. Nathan, for me, might have given the best performance. His needy, and at times insufferable, portrayal had me audibly sighing. So much so that I went from liking his character to hating almost everything about him.
But that also applies to just about every character on the show I felt like I was constantly reevaluating how I felt about the characters, which is a testament to how strong the writing and performances were.
