As a Gunpla builder I always found it odd I never really sat down and actually watched Gundam before, the orignal 1979 series that started it all is a brutal depiction of war. Characters die left and right, and most of them are child soldiers aboard the White Base, this series does not pull its punches. The tone and story really help you get lost into the world of the Universal Century. Excellent show, held back by the animation limits of its time.
