Oh that’s not…
I mean, okay. This show wasn’t necessarily awful. In fact, it was actually almost decent! I though the performances were on point, the cinematography was great, and the characters really were worth telling a story about.
But that story. Hm.
Like what do you mean this is a 6-episode limited series? The fuck am I supposed to do with that? Move on?!
Well YES, I will, because this was a real disappointment!
This half-baked story… oh god, like what are we doing? Netflix please stop with the bullshit, why would you green light this?
That terribly delivered message in the end overshadowing that mediocre ass conduit of a storyline, a storyline that made me unbelievably irritated at Conrad and his choices, despite the fact that the show really wants you to direct any criticism away from him. Like as much as I’m very aware of the fact that Conrad didn’t deserve the shit he got, who the FUCK gets that mad over a PARKING VIOLATION???? You’re not broke, you have an education, you have a job, like seriously?? Getting back into the car like a dumbass, and I’m supposed to be weeping for you, like hm. Fawk that man.
And that whole bank storyline being dropped, despite the fact that Charlie did not go through with any of his promises was very very strange, but atleast Joyce was saved from being outed, so I’m happy in that sense.
The ending though. Hm. Do I really have to speak my mind on it? Or should I just let it go? Hmmmmmmmm.
Yea.
Anyways, wouldn’t recommend. Even though my strong feelings for it don’t put it below 2 stars, I would never recommend someone to watch an unfinished story to the degree that this show was. So much wasted potential, so much wasted talent not only on screen, but even behind the scenes (Regina King), and just a forgettable messaging device that outlines exactly what not to do when trying to convey, well, literally any evocative topic.
Underwhelming!
