I think I enjoyed it a little more than I should have, purely because of the UHD release on iPlayer. Hence why the three-episode miniseries has ten thousands shots of the same waves, sea and house. This could've wrapped in less than two hours. This adaptation seems to owe its creation to Challengers, given the tennis and the love triangle. But it uses these in such dull ways, I just wished it would keep cutting to drone shots of Gull's Point. Every time there's a hint of interesting development in a dialogue, it cuts to the next scene. Most scenes end with a character asking another a question. Presumably, the question is answered when we cut away but, no. Apparently they just stare at eachother for a couple seconds and leave the room quietly without mentioning any of it.
It's also kinda predictable. It shows its hand too early with too many characters, as convincing as a Murder, She Wrote episode announcing its killer, half an hour in. The "point zero" bullshit was admittedly interesting at the start, but ultimately its only use is that the first murder is delayed to the second episode. If it's heading Towards Zero, then put the murder at the end and still make it cohesive, you cowards. Who cares if the murder was seeded in the courtroom? It's just fancy wording for motive and even the writers call themselves out on it through the Inspector.
Overall it's nothing more than just lies, cigarettes, and bright red lipsticks.
