i don’t really know how to rate this i can’t lie. I’ve got to say straight off the acting isn’t great, you get used to it as it goes on and i did feel bad to Heathcliff towards the end meaning the actings good enough haha. If you excuse its dated nature it’s the best representation of Wuthering heights (book adaptation as it doesn’t miss much, hence it being 5 hours long.
i don’t think i could rate this a 5 star due to it being a long series that is quite dated and not well acted (and i won’t lie I’m not like the biggest fan of the original plot compared to other gothic novels)
I liked Hareton and Catherine (young) most and i think their personalities were portrayed pretty accurately to the book. Cathy (older) was honestly really accurate, like it encapsulated her turbulent, agitating character so well and her delusions and illness was really well done. Lintons fuckass wig with his whiny personality makes sense
Okay so i didn’t note down my thoughts to every part and had seen many clips of this edition preluding this watch, anywho here are my highlights:
The use of the mirror shots were cool for the time period it was filmed
the slowmo of heathcliff catching Hareton after being thrown, my nonchalant king
joseph praying in the storm was so funny, i love how his accent really did reflect how heavy it is in the book
cathy forcing Edgar and Heathcliff to hold hands as to force their friendship, she’s such a queen how she doesn’t care for her husbands classism
Heathcliff just chewing a random branch after getting with Isabella
Edgar’s visible shaking is also funny, the way he also just turns up with weapons and men
my main gripe with this show is why do they whisper for sm , i had to have it so loud to hear what they were saying
