The production value skyrocketed from Forward Unto Dawn (though that Shangheli zealot looks ROUGH). Unfortunately they couldn’t come up with a decent plot they could film on their budget, so they just remade Pitch Black without any characters.

Also that Star Trek looking alien at the start was definitely invented for this movie. Technically their race is introduced in the comics, but like RIGHT before this movie came out. Dumb! Just make it a human insurrectionist!
