135 minutes of the most genuinely awe-inspiring cinematic moments you will ever see. The Wachowskis spend the entire movie ensuring there is never a dull moment. Constantly crafting sequence after sequence to draw your eyes and heart into a work that wears its humanity on its sleeve. Speed Racer is the great movie ever to feature no inherently adult content. It's seemingly impossible to imagine a kids' movie like this ever gets made again, and that's nothing to do with it's budgetary shortcomings. The Wachowskis believed in children and adults alike to enjoy a movie of this magnitude and modern studios likely lack that faith. We should be glad to share our time with minds as brilliant as the sisters that gave us so many classics from Bound to the Matrix series to this insane work of modern art. We can only hope to experience this genius as often as possible.
