Sinners
Fourth time seeing and probably my last time in theaters
I have a lot to say, but truly not much that hasn’t been said already. I could touch on its themes of race and safe spaces and the importance of music in culture. The Irish part of me wants to write a whole essay on the villain, going into how the Irish’s initial marginalization was overall overshadowed by the fact that they are white leading to them becoming the same oppressors they faced. BUT, I’m sure there are a thousand people more qualified than me to talk about it and a thousand more who already have. So what I’ll say for that is simply this: this movies rules, the themes fucking hit, and every aspect of this movie is oozing with sauce.
This movie earns each and every one of the five stars that I give it on every rewatch. The writing, the cinematography, the score, the acting, the directing, (and the incredibly hot women) all feel like the top of the movie game. This is what I want from a theater experience and it raises the bar higher of what I expect from an original film.
10/10, lots of notes, all positive
