Sinners
There are very few times in my life where I regret my choice to not major in film. It’s not practical to my life and it’s not an industry I think I’d find success in. But it’s moments like these, where I watch a movie like this, and I realize I am disgusted by my own thoughts.
How awful a life to feel as though I must choose safety over art, money over passion, a future over me. But how lucky am I that I get to live in a world where art such as this is so easily accessible. This movie stands as a clear reminder as to why I check what my theater plays every week. It reminds me why I set aside snack money with every paycheck. It reminds me why I love art.
There’s a million reasons I can give to why this movie is amazing and why it resonates with me so deeply but, as pretentious as it sounds, I kind of like just having those thoughts to me. So all I’ll say is: I like it. I like this movie a lot.
Also side note when this particular showing ended my friend turned to me and said through tears, “I can kill myself. I’ve seen everything I think I’ve needed to now”. And while some might say that’s an exaggeration…that’s valid as hell.
