A Complete Unknown
This really struck a chord with me (pun, kind of intended).
Though I have not listened to much Bob Dylan on my own, I will quickly change that after watching this movie.
Apart from it being about someone so acclaimed as Dylan, it’s also a story of how it feels to be living in your late teens and early twenties.
So many people put people at that age in boxes, it sure as hell happened to me and I just wanted to break free from them.
I feel as though I have. A lot of people expected me to go to a big time college and do a very stable job, but no I’m going to a division 2 about 1,900 student college to be a pilot. A job that comes with a lot less risks than people think, but still a very risky job. There are more ways I feel like I broke out of the boxes people put me in, but that really just feels like the biggest one.
Bob Dylan wanted to break away from the label of being a folk artist, and he did. Though everyone might have not loved his later stuff, he still loved the music he was making.
I’ve never watched a movie that so fully captivated that feeling of rebelliousness like A Complete Unknown has, and I thank James Mangold, Timothee Chalamet, Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Bob Dylan, and so many more for contributing to how seen I feel from this.
Thank you to my mom for sharing this experience with me and helping me find a way to articulate how I felt about this movie.
What a way to cap off 2024!
