Superman

Convinced my mom to see this again with me, mostly because she was hoping to catch the trailer for The Odyssey. She’s a die-hard Christopher Nolan fan. (We didn’t get the trailer, sadly — but that just gives me a potential excuse for another rewatch… though I’m off to London in two weeks for an Oasis concert, so we’ll see.)
I’ve already written two long reviews for this film, so I don’t think I need to go over the structure or critique again. But I saw it in IMAX this time, and I have to say, the flying scenes felt so much better this time. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to them after watching it a couple of times, but they didn’t bother me like they did on my first watch. They kind of clicked, especially on that huge screen.
Since I don’t really have any new criticisms, I’ll go the emotional route instead — because honestly, I’ve been feeling kind of low lately.

I love that this silly little superhero movie has the courage to tell people to be better. It’s so rare to find something that’s earnest without being preachy. It doesn’t try to be edgy or cynical. It just shows us what it means to be kind — even when the world doesn’t make it easy.
There are so few truly pure stories left. These days it feels like everyone is angry, guarded, and SO quick to judge. I don’t usually rant about personal stuff in reviews, but this past year has been rough. I wasn’t able to go to school and probably will finish online, and people I thought were my close friends started talking behind my back — saying things that could’ve been cleared up so easily if they had just talked to me. They didn’t. And it hurt.
Watching Superman reminds me that, even in a messy world, we can choose to be kind. That we can choose to listen before we shut someone out. That maybe, just maybe, we should try to talk someone into being good instead of writing them off completely. Because to someone like Clark — who didn’t even grow up in this world — all this bitterness and cruelty must seem so unbelievably pointless. Racism, homophobia, the way people still treat mental illness… it’s all just noise. Clark doesn’t fall into that. He listens, he helps, he hopes.
₊˚꒰🎸꒱‧ “Maybe that’s the real punkrock” ⸝⸝
And honestly, that’s the kind of person I want to be, even when it’s hard.
Also, thank you to anyone who’s been reading my reviews, commenting, or even just lurking. This little space has become one of the safest, warmest corners of the internet for me.
I see you, and I appreciate you so unbelievably much. Take care of yourselves. Sending you all a big hug ❤️🩹
