Damn this sh** is really good! 🤠❤️ I love how they have given priority to male as well as female performances (which is very rare when it comes to western genre), and that's what kept me so interested! Never enjoyed a western like this after The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I believe I'm living in a whole other world! 🐎⛰️10

I really appreciate the central theme of love and the importance of community and family in this series (wasn’t expecting a sapphic subplot but I’m so happy there was one!!) the parallels between Frank-Roy Roy-Truckee… yeah wrap it up I’m cryin. THIS REALLY MADE ME MISS HORSERIDING. Why can’t I just be a cowboy?? Speaking of cowboys… Roy Goode you have my heart. His happy ending was very cathartic. Jack is so fantastic, especially how he displays that feeling of restrained yearning. It lost stars however mainly due to pacing and the sheer amount of lore covered across a short amount of time (might be a skill issue who knows) The soundtrack was **beautiful. **The cinematography was **beautiful. **I really liked the detail of women led towns (even if all the main plot was about men 😭) Mary Agnes stood out to me as a fabulous character.00

Not only is the cinematography one of the best I’ve ever seen but the acting is extraordinary (minus some misguided representation here and there) Jeff Daniels was born to play a villain and I think I’m in love with Scoot McNairy. It’s always those cowards that got something to prove types, ain’t it? Also Merritt Wever, call me. Please give us the RDR2 adaptation of our dreams.00

I’ll be honest, I background watched while doing various things, it wasn’t bad but I just don’t care for a slow Netflix cowboy drama. However, by the end I was lowkey locked in, great finale!00
Chiara Lestino6.0May 13, 2025this “realist western” type of show is so not my thing. the sexual violence, racism and excessive killing just doesn’t feel right in a story that uses its non-white and non-male characters for substance and yet still make them feel one-dimensional. the one thing that skewed it in the positive for me was that it successfully made me fond of the “good” characters by the finale, and so the ending was a *decent* payoff. **all in all, what got me thru 7.5 hours of this was the cowgirl lesbians, jack o’connell as “hot cowboy with sad upbringing”, and beautiful landscape shots! yeehaw 🤠**00

Ale9.0July 16, 2020i love my westerns. final battle was so worth the build up. the stakes felt real. however, this wasn't the progressive western that was advertised. definitely more representation but the buffalo soldiers were massacred and it just felt like any other western where the poc are just something to kill and that kinda hurt.00

Catherine4.0November 30, 2017Netflix pulled me into this mess using a clever 3-fold plan - 1. Casting Michelle Dockery in the lead role 2. Playing a slowed down version of Cher’s Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) in the trailer 3. The promise of a female-centric Western centered around a town inhabited almost solely by women, all of whom must fight to protect their turf I was SO excited to watch this that I forced myself to continue even after the point where I realized this show was not going to be near as fun or exciting as I had believed. Michelle Dockery’s Western “accent” was really just a British woman doing her best to even sound vaguely American … there wasn’t a hint of genuine twang to be found. The story that had so much promise completely fell apart because the show-runners were never actually trying to tell a female-centric story. The whole series focuses on the men in the story, as incredibly ironic as that may seem. In different hands, I truly believe this could have been a masterpiece, but unfortunately this was what we got instead.00
