Dune

I've seen some people speculating what the shot (this banner) from Paul's vision in Part One could possibly mean and look like in Messiah. Who might stand beside him? Stilgar, Irulan, or maybe Chani after all? IMO, for Messiah's story, Paul standing in complete solitude would be the most striking image. I NEED Messiah to just be Paul being sad and pathetic for the whole film to weed out the fake sigma-paul truthers. Throughout the entire book, it is often mentioned how alone Paul feels; set on a path only he can understand. The third act of Part Two already moved the camera further away from him in most scenes. Paul plays his role of a mighty, ruthless emperor because he has to (or at least he feels like he does), but deep inside he's just a mess. It’ll be so interesting to see how a book that’s centered around Paul doing all he can to delay the inevitable for Chani will be adapted into a film where she has separated from him. No doubt he still cares for her, but the nature of the threat will have to change. The key to showing Paul as Emperor will be establishing a narrative & visual distance from him, and I cannot wait to see if this is what Denis is going for. Spoilers of Messiah ahead:Paul Maud’dib. A tainted hero. He’ll rise to power as in Messiah and this power will corrupt him. In the end, he will be consumed by it while simultaneously sacrificing himself to pave the way for the next generation of heroes. This is what cinema was made for!!
