Dune

It (the spice)… marks his eyes as yours are marked: total blue without any white. Your eyes, your organs of sight, become one thing without contrast, a single view. Just finished rereading Messiah the other day, and let me tell you— this shit is shorter than the original, yet somehow has even more substance to chew on. From grand world-building to intimate introspection, hidden away in hushed conspiratorial tones behind closed doors. It leaves most of the physical action that the first book and the films have, creating a streamlined narrative that doubles down on political intrigue, character studies, and a critique of power structures. It dives super deep into musings on religion, daunting effects of prescience, generational curses, heroism, politics, free will, failure and so much more. THE perfect companion piece to Dune. Absolutely adore it. Truly a beautiful, beautiful book with some of my favorite quotes in all of Dune. Again, it’s by no means action-packed, and I can see why its original reception is frowned upon, but this adaptation is going to be a masterpiece, for me anyway. Starring Timothée, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Pattinson, and maybe Ferguson?— Oh boy we are so not ready for this. I never wanted to be a god, he (Paul) thought. I wanted only to disappear like a jewel of trace dew caught by the morning. I wanted to escape the angels and the damned alone… as though by an oversight.
