Wicked

💚🩷I told myself i cried enough yesterday and today i’ll just have a happy watching, vibing with the songs. But “No one mourns the wicked” ruined my plans. Ariana should get nominated for best supporting actress for that scene alone. 💚🩷The flashbacks of their time together at Shiz after seeing Glinda’s pain in her eyes while pretending to celebrate the death of her best friend… heartbreaking. I’m actually already sad for Part 2 cuz when they’ll meet again they’ll have changed so much. In the book when Elphaba returns to Shiz after Dorothy arrives she talks about how she can’t believe how much time has passed since her school days and how much she has changed. Oh and when they’ll sing the line “It well may be/ That we will never meet again/ In this lifetime” at the end of Part 2 i may actually die.  💚🩷I’m starting to think they kept that friend group poppy field scene from the trailes for Part 2 (cuz that’s too good of a scene to cut), and it will be a flashback of some sorts and it will totally kill me.  💚🩷God i’m so glad they cast people who know how to sing and sing the original emotions of the songs (i may be comparing it with a certain movie musical adaptation where they wear pink on wednesdays). Cynthia’s voice is so powerful and it gives u chills during “The Wizard and I” and “Defying Gravity”. And her voice blends so well with Ariana’s. “Dancing through life” may actually be my favorite musical moment cuz it s SO COOL. Jonny’s voice and the vocal changes that were made?? Plus the choreography using the library environment and books.  💚🩷I have actually been changed for good by this film cuz all day i couldn’t do anything except listen to the soundtrack and look forward to watching it again. And now i’m in the same situation. It’s a good thing i’m seeing it for a thrid time tomorrow.  💚🩷Second time around i noticed so many more details. For example the wizard wall from the Shiz courtyard which covered the animals painted wall (i don’t know how i didn’t notice this the first time it was so obvious). And i also noticed even more things in THAT one scene. Also they really did a good job with the way Fiyero sits in class to foreshadow Part 2 (iykyk). They also did a great job with the way they shot the scenes from the past from “No one mourns the wicked” so you don’t see the man’s face in order to keep the mystery of who Elphaba’s father is. I didn’t check, but i hope spotify didn’t ruin the surprise in the song credits (like they did for that other song).  💚🩷What do you mean kids nowadays don’t know the original “Wizard of Oz” story? There were so many kids at my screening and when it was revealed that the Wizard had no powers they all gasped. Honey, i’m afraid that was a well known fact for 124 years.  💚🩷(Spoilers in this paragraph!!) I’m so glad we got to see more of Elphaba training with Madame Morrible (cuz in the stange show we don’t really see a lot of that), and now it hurts even more when she finds out Madame Morrible was working for the Wizard all along. She was the first person who wasn’t afraid of Elphaba’s powers and that understood her, which makes her betrayal hit way harder after seeing more of their time spent together.  💚🩷The way the whole thing turns to dark after “One short day” (the plot and the visuals). Once they enter the palace it’s like they both loose their youthful innocence. I’m so not ready for Part 2.
